Jsme Radka a Jiří Běčákovi. Máme dvě dcery, Vendulku a Barunku. Vždy jsme si přáli mít dvě princezny, krásné, zdravé, blonďaté holky. První na svět přišla Vendulka. Krásně prospívala, byla učebnicové dítě a tak nám nebránilo nic ji po dvou letech pořídit sestřičku.

Barunka se narodila v roce 2009 a přesto, že těhotenství probíhalo ukázkově a nic nenaznačovalo tomu, že by nemělo být něco v pořádku, na porodním sále nás čekal šok, když nám lékař sdělil, že: "Vaše dcera má vrozenou vadu pravé ruky. Nemá prsty, má jen dlaň a palec." V tu chvíli se nám rozplynuly sny o zdravém dítěti. Vkrádaly se nám do hlav myšlenky "proč my?"

Když už jsme se pomalu srovnávali s jedním handicapem, přišla další rána. Přesto, že Barunka byla smíšek, trošku mluvila, rozeznávala první zvířátka, jsme si všimli, že je něco jinak. V roce a půl přišla nemoc - akutní zánět ledvin doprovázený vysokými teplotami a hospitalizace. Když jsme se vrátili z nemocnice, měli jsme doma jiné dítě. Na denním pořádku byl pláč, křik, sebeubližování, ztráta řeči, záškuby v ruce, apatie, svůj svět. Další diagnóza zněla dětský autismus s přidruženými diagnózami. Ponětí o tom, že existuje autismus jsme měli, ale když jsme sedli a četli literaturu spojenou s touto poruchou, neubránili jsme se slzám a pro změnu se nám vkrádala do hlav myšlenka "co bude, až my tady nebudeme?".

A když přišli naši přátelé, manželé Cigánkovi, že chtějí vybudovat pro Leontýnku a pár dalších dětí s autismem domov, kde spolu budou spokojeně žít, ani na chvíli jsme nezaváhali a připojili se. Chceme pro Barunku spokojené a důstojné žití do konce jejího života. Je to naše zlatíčko, které miluje svoji rodinu, tanec, zvířata, svůj život. A my máme naději na klidný odchod.

We are Radka and Jiri Becakovi. We have two daughters, Vendulka and Barunka. We always wished to have two princesses, two beautiful and healthy girlw siwht blond hair. Vendulka came first. She was meeting all her milestones, she was the perfect child, so we thought that we would get her a little sister two years later.

Barunka was born in 2009 and the pregnancy was normal and nothing indicated that there were any issues. However we got a shock during delivery when the doctor told us ‚Your daughter was born with disfigured right hand. She doesn’t have fingers, just palm and a thumb.‘ In that moment our dreams of having another healthy child dissolved. We started asking ourselves ‚Why us?‘.

When we finally started coming to terms with this disability, we got another strike. Although Barunka was a smily child, she was talking a little bit and she was able to recognise animals, we noticed that something isn’t right. When she was 18 months she got ill with acute kidney infection with high fever, and she had to be hospitalised. When we returned from hospital , it was as if we brought home a different child. Crying, screaming, self-harm, loss of speech, hand tics, apathy and her own word were on a daily order. The next diagnosis was Autism with secondary diagnoses. We were aware that there is such a thing as Autism, but when we started reading about this condition we couldn’t hold our tears back, and we started thinking ‚What will happen, when we are not here anymore?‘.

When our friends, Mr & Mrs Cigankovi, came with an idea to build a home for Leontynka and a few other children, where they can live peacefully together, we did not wait a second and joined the cause.  We want a happy and dignified living for our daughter Barunka for the rest of her life. She is our everything, she loves her family very much, she loves dancing, animals, and her life. And we have a hope for a peaceful end of our lives.
